Stray Feeders

Purely Adoptions tries our best to rescue and rehome as many animals as well could. However, with the limited Fosterers, it is often beyond our capacity to take in all the strays we see. Hence, we provide a few stray feeders with 1,250kg of rice every month in hopes that as many stray dogs as possible could be fed. At the very least, we hope we could provide the stray dogs with a filled tummy if we could not give them a home.

Located around Singapore, these stray feeders will cook rice for the dogs every day regardless of the weather. Purely Adoptions also do checks to ensure that the donations are not abused. We also will support more stray feeders or ad hoc stray feeders if we have more resources available.

  1. Lee Chew                           Tampines

Stories of the stray feeders

Food Preparation for the Strays

*Credits: http://dogappy.com/is-rice-good-for-dogs

Rice is a rich source of carbohydrates and experts claims that at least ⅓ portion of the dog food should contain healthy carbohydrates. Along with providing all the essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, phosphorus, iron and calcium, rice also helps the dogs to fight various health conditions such as food allergies, diarrhea, loss of appetite etc*. While kibbles is often fed to domestic dogs, rice is the preferred food to feed the strays as stray dogs are more accustomed to being fed rice by people.

Stray feeders will usually prepare food the night before as they have to prepare large quantity of rice and meat to feed the many strays around Singapore. This requires much financial support as well and we try our best to provide them with monthly supplies of rice. However, we have many more stray feeders on our waiting list that we really hope but is unable to support. Your contribution will be important to these stray feeders, who braces the weather everyday to ensure that the dogs are full. They also help to identify and neuter and spay the strays to prevent them from breeding.

Daily Routine of Stray Feeder

Follow one of our stray feeder in her day in which she travels to ulu places to feed the many roaming strays. The many years of feeding the strays at the location has already allowed her to form a rapport with every stray dogs and she could remember each and everyone by heart. One stray feeder even climbs through windows to ensure that the strays living within the deserted buildings are fed while others bring the injured ones to the vet.

Happy Recipients of our Food Donation

Purely Adoptions holds an annual Food Donation Drive in hopes of raising fund and food for these stray feeders. While we try our best to reach out to as many stray feeders as possible, the limited funding puts many of the stray feeders on our waiting list. We really do hope to be able to expand and support more stray feeders and this can only be done with the support from everyone.

CATS' FEASTING PICTURES

We would like to thank Silversky Pet Care for their donation of premium Stella & Chewy gourmet cat and dog food. This came a day after our first rescued cat Boy Boy crossed the rainbow and we thought it could be his last gift to his fellow stray animals out there. If you are interested in Boy Boy's story, you can read it here.

The first beneficiary of Stella & Chewy Gourmet cat food are the cats at Tuas Industrial area. Rizal has been feeding these stray cats near his work place for the past 3 years. He was delighted when I passed him a packet of cat food to add onto the cat's dinner. While he was feeding the cats, fellow cat lover Wong Ling, also dropped by to ensure that the cats are fed.

A true blue animal lover, Wong Ling took over the task of feeding the cats in the area after the original stray feeder was hospitalised. It was so heart warming to see the devotion and dedication of people towards the stray animals. It was also a joy to see the stray animals enjoying their possibly only (maybe) meal of the day.

If you would like to help the cat stray feeders, you can visit https://purelyadoptions.com/stray-feeders-stories/ or contact 90018848. Let's help the cats stray feeders have a constant supply of food to feed the strays.

Cat Food Donation #2

This is our 2nd batch of Cat food donation to the cats at Kim Chuan. This is in memory of our first rescued cat, Boy Boy, who crossed the rainbow on 23 July 2017. The premium Stella & Chewy gourmet cat and dog food is donated by Silversky Pet Care a day after Boy Boy passed away.

We decided to donate the cat food to cat stray feeders as this may be Boy Boy's last gift to his fellow cats. The second batch of Cat food goes to the cats at Km Chuan. This was where Boy Boy was originally found and rescued by stray feeder Ambal, who later informed her friend Shiny to contact us for assistance. If you are interested in Boy Boy's story, you can read it here.

It always bring us joy to see that they stray cats and dogs are fed. However, we always worry if this could be their only meal in a day, or in a few days. Right now, we hold a yearly Easter Food Donation for our dog stray feeders but due to limited resources, we are still working to expand our effort into feeding stray cats. Perhaps it is time we do something for the cat stray feeders.

If you would like to help the cat stray feeders, you can visit https://purelyadoptions.com/stray-feeders-stories/ or contact 90018848. Purely Adoptions sincerely thank you for your kind thoughts towards these homeless animal.
